Son of Warehouse (Venue 5), to July 23
Incoming visitors to this production by local performance artists Ian Mozdzen and Doug Melnyk are given a a Monopoly game Chance card that promises: “It’s your lucky day.” If watching a naked, masked man spinning in circles screaming, banging things with a cane and drinking his own urine is your idea of luck, then you’ve won the lottery here.
Mozdzen plays the mustachioed Monopoly Man as if the board-game character were on a bad acid trip in this pointless, prop-heavy show. Watching someone make an OXO stock base in his mouth, pee in a pot, walk around with sticks in his pants and shove objects in his butt is fun for a while, but at 80 minutes, this could be cut in half.
Still, you can’t take your eyes off Mozdzen and it doesn’t get any more fringy than this show, which will probably ruin your appetite for creamed corn.
