Hey there, time traveller!

It is now time to start taking the Winnipeg Blue Bombers seriously.
Thanks to an impressive defensive showing which saw no points allowed in the second half, the Blue Bombers beat the previously undefeated Edmonton Eskimos 28-16 at Canad Inns Stadium Friday night. Winnipeg, alone atop the East division, improves to 5-1 on the season. The Eskimos (5-1) remain in first place in the West.
The Eskimos opened the scoring on their first possession, marching the ball 54 yards into the end zone just over two minutes into the game. Receiver Jason Barnes had the major score, hauling in a 22-yard pass from quarterback Ricky Ray.
Edmonton kicker Damon Duval added a 37-yard field goal with 6:26 left in the quarter, to push the visitors’ lead to 10-0 before several of the 29,553 (a sellout) could take their seats at the Polo Park stadium.
Winnipeg’s lone point came on a single from kicker Justin Palardy, after he shanked a 22-yarder to the right. Duval added a punt single before the quarter was up.
Palardy’s struggles continued in the second quarter when he missed a 32-yard attempt. The Blue and Gold grabbed a single out of the miss, however, and the Bombers kicker finally found the range with 4:06 left when he lifted a 33-yard FG through the uprights.
The Bombers took the lead with 61 seconds left when quarterback Buck Pierce pulled the ball down and rushed 48 yards for the touchdown. It was the longest run of Pierce’s CFL career.
Edmonton regained the advantage when Duval hit a 21-yard field goal with no time remaining in the half.
After Winnipeg conceded a safety early in the third quarter, the home side reclaimed the lead when Terrence Edwards hauled in a 29-yard pass from Pierce for a touchdown.
The Bombers extended their lead to 10 when Pierce hit Cory Watson for a seven-yard touchdown pass, on a drive that was extended by facemask and a pass interference penalties to the Eskimos defence.
Following the game, Winnipeg will take the weekend off from the field before preparing for a road game against B.C. Lions next Saturday (Aug. 13).
