OCT. 14, 1979 — Winnipeg 4 Colorado 2

The Jets pick up their first-ever win over Don Cherry and the Rockies as Craig Norwich scores twice, with singles by Jude Drouin and Peter Sullivan.

OCT. 17, 1980 — Winnipeg 6 Chicago 2

Morris Lukowich records his first career hat trick and Markus Mattsson kicks out 40 saves for the Jets’ victory.

OCT. 6, 1981 — Toronto 6 Winnipeg 1

Rick Vaive and Borje Salming are named two of the three stars as the Leafs throttle the Jets to open the season.

OCT. 6, 1982 — Minnesota 5 Winnipeg 4

Dino Ciccarelli scores two goals 32 seconds apart in the third to lead the North Stars.

OCT. 5, 1983 — Winnipeg 6 Detroit 6

Scott Arniel picks up his first hat trick as the Wings and Jets play the first regular-season OT game in 41 years.

OCT. 14, 1984 — Winnipeg 5 Toronto 2

The Jets pepper Allan Bester with 44 shots in the win, their 10th consecutive over the Leafs.

OCT. 13, 1985 — Quebec 5 Winnipeg 2

The Jets fall to the Nordiques and a day later GM John Ferguson trades for goaltender Daniel Bouchard.

OCT. 9, 1986 — Winnipeg 3 Buffalo 2

Pokey Reddick posts his first victory in his first start for the Jets as Randy Carlyle scores the winner.

OCT. 12, 1987 — Winnipeg 3 Calgary 2

Daniel ‘The Bandit’ Berthiaume stones the Flames and the Jets get goals from Ray Neufeld, Paul MacLean and Randy Carlyle.

OCT. 14, 1988 — Winnipeg 4 Vancouver 3

The Jets get a fluke OT goal from Laurie Boschman for their first win of the year.

OCT. 6, 1989 — New York Rangers 4 Winnipeg 1

The Jets have two goals disallowed and another apparent marker not counted in the loss. “If I’d had slipped (referee Mark Faucette) a 20, I might have got the shutout,” joked Rangers netminder John Vanbiesbrouck. He was later fined by the NHL.

OCT. 4, 1990 — Winnipeg 7 Toronto 1

Kris Draper makes his NHL debut with a goal, a fight with Drake Berehowsky and, as an added bonus, three stitches to his head.

OCT. 4, 1991 — Los Angeles 6 Winnipeg 3

Jari Kurri scores twice for the Kings in his first season in L.A. colours.

OCT. 6, 1992 — Winnipeg 4 Detroit 1

Keith Tkachuk and Thomas Steen both score and Teemu Selanne picks up two assists in the victory.

OCT. 6, 1993 — Winnipeg 6 Washington 4

Selanne starts his second season with a splash, notching three goals in a win over the Caps.

JAN. 20, 1995* — Winnipeg 3 Calgary 3

The Jets rally to tie as Tkachuk beats Trevor Kidd in the third.

OCT. 7, 1995 — Winnipeg 7 Dallas 5

Selkirk’s Neil Wilkinson scores the winner, short-handed, as the Jets open their ‘Season to Remember.’
