The Jets pick up their first-ever win over Don Cherry and the Rockies as Craig Norwich scores twice, with singles by Jude Drouin and Peter Sullivan.
OCT. 17, 1980 — Winnipeg 6 Chicago 2
Morris Lukowich records his first career hat trick and Markus Mattsson kicks out 40 saves for the Jets’ victory.
OCT. 6, 1981 — Toronto 6 Winnipeg 1
Rick Vaive and Borje Salming are named two of the three stars as the Leafs throttle the Jets to open the season.
OCT. 6, 1982 — Minnesota 5 Winnipeg 4
Dino Ciccarelli scores two goals 32 seconds apart in the third to lead the North Stars.

Scott Arniel picks up his first hat trick as the Wings and Jets play the first regular-season OT game in 41 years.

The Jets pepper Allan Bester with 44 shots in the win, their 10th consecutive over the Leafs.

The Jets fall to the Nordiques and a day later GM John Ferguson trades for goaltender Daniel Bouchard.
OCT. 9, 1986 — Winnipeg 3 Buffalo 2
Pokey Reddick posts his first victory in his first start for the Jets as Randy Carlyle scores the winner.
OCT. 12, 1987 — Winnipeg 3 Calgary 2
Daniel ‘The Bandit’ Berthiaume stones the Flames and the Jets get goals from Ray Neufeld, Paul MacLean and Randy Carlyle.
OCT. 14, 1988 — Winnipeg 4 Vancouver 3
The Jets get a fluke OT goal from Laurie Boschman for their first win of the year.
OCT. 6, 1989 — New York Rangers 4 Winnipeg 1
The Jets have two goals disallowed and another apparent marker not counted in the loss. “If I’d had slipped (referee Mark Faucette) a 20, I might have got the shutout,” joked Rangers netminder John Vanbiesbrouck. He was later fined by the NHL.
