The Winnipeg Blue Bombers could have a different look in the secondary this weekend.
With safety Ian Logan still out with some unidentified illness – he hasn’t been at practice all week – the Bombers are looking at Jovon Johnson in the back of the defence. Johnson saw time with the first team unit at Canad Inns Stadium Thursday and could be the guy should Logan not be able to make the trip to Calgary.
“Ian Logan is sick. Could we possibly play him without practising? Yes. We won’t make that determination yet, though,” Bombers head coach Paul LaPolice told reporters.
The Bombers (10-7) are calling Logan’s illness “undisclosed.” LaPolice wouldn’t get into specifics regarding the nature of his condition or the seriousness of it, but wouldn’t rule out Logan versus the Stampeders (10-7) at McMahon Stadium Saturday afternoon (3 p.m.).
With Johnson working where Logan usually is, backup defensive back Deon Beasley took over in Johnson’s cornerback position at practice Thursday.
In other secondary news, rookie import defensive back Darrell Pasco will draw into the lineup to replace Johnny Sears, who sitting out Saturday’s game due to suspension.
Pasco, a Georgia Southern-product, should see most of his time on special teams, coming into the defence as the extra back in passing situations.
The Bombers also announced they’ve set up a waiting list for those interested in purchasing new season tickets for the 2012 season. A $50 commitment is required to get on the list and ensures you get an opportunity to purchase tickets, depending on ticket availability.
