WINNIPEG — Zach Bogosian has avoided the NHL’s long arm of the law.

The Winnipeg Jets defenceman received a major and a game misconduct for boarding Pierre-Marc Bouchard late in Tuesday’s win over the Minnesota Wild, but the club confirmed this afternoon that he will not face supplemental discipline from the NHL’s Player Safety Department. The NHL reviewed the hit and determined Bogosian did not run at Bouchard, who turned just prior to the contact.

“I had a pretty big shot on the nose, and with all the sinuses, my body doesn’t feel 100 percent. I lost a lot of blood last night,” Bouchard told The Minneapolis Star-Tribune. “But I don’t have many big symptoms that tell me my head’s not fine.”

Meanwhile, right-winger Antti Miettinen, claimed by the Jets on waivers on Tuesday, is expected to arrive in Winnipeg later today.

Jets coach Claude Noel said this morning that the 31-year-old Finn, a veteran of 472 NHL games, will not be a player in Thursday night’s home game against the Washington Capitals.

“He hasn’t played for a couple of weeks,” Noel said following this morning’s practice at the MTS Iceplex. “It’s my understanding he’s been skating but he needs to get back into a rhythm. It’ll be good to get him some practice time, get him familiar, get him comfortable, then let’s get going.”

Miettinen had been playing in the KHL with Ak-Bars Kazan but signed Monday with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Since he was playing in Europe this season, he was required to be placed on waivers, from where the Jets claimed him.

Also today, Noel said that defenceman Tobias Enstrom, who broke his collarbone in late October, is cleared for full practice. He has been skating periodically with the team, but now requires some contact before he will play again.

There are hints now that it will be before the end of the month, which was the original projection for Enstrom’s recovery.

Today, the Jets announced that defenceman Arturs Kulda has been assigned to the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps. Kulda was put on waivers Tuesday and cleared today. He has done a nice job in the nine games he has played here this season while the team’s backline has undergone extensive injury trouble.

Jason Jaffray has also been placed on waivers, a club spokesman said, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the veteran forward will be assigned to St. John’s even if he clears. The Jets are thin along the forward lines with Nik Antropov and Alex Burmistrov nursing injuries and Eric Fehr, who did play Tuesday against Minnesota, still dealing with the after-effects of offseason shoulder surgery.
