THE Winnipeg Blue Bombers will unveil Garth Buchko as the new CEO and president of the CFL club at a press conference this morning, the Free Press has learned.

Buchko, who has served as president and general manager of radio station CJOB, will replace interim CEO Ossama AbouZeid. AbouZeid was hired by the club in July of last year and was the team’s first CEO since the departure of Lyle Bauer in December of 2009.

The team had been hunting for a permanent top executive since that time.

Buchko, who has been GM at CJOB since 1995, is expected to have control over the entire club, including the football operations, marketing and finance. The new CEO will report to the club’s board of directors while general manager Joe Mack will report directly to the CEO.
