The Winnipeg Jets have plucked left-shooting defenceman Adam Pardy out of free agency to shore up their blueline corps.

The 29-year-old Pardy, who hails from Newfoundland, has played most of the last five seasons in the NHL, including 17 games with the Buffalo Sabres last year in which he registered four assists and 14 penalty minutes. Pardy also did time in the AHL during the lockout-shortened season, suiting up for 21 games with the Rochester Americans.

He started his NHL career with the Calgary Flames, who drafted him in 2004, and played 36 games with the Dallas Stars in 2011-12.
