DAUPHIN’S Ryan Horn was nothing but smiles at the conclusion of his first round back in the pros.

Horn toured as a pro on the Canadian Tour but took some time off after the 2010 season to focus on work. He qualified for The Players Cup on Monday during The Players Cup qualifier.

“It’s exciting. I missed it. It’s good to see the boys and the fans again,” said the 31-year-old. “I haven’t been out for three years and with the PGA taking things over here things look really good and bright for the future. It’s such a great atmosphere to be in.”

While Horn was excited to play in a pro tournament, he knows his game will have to improve in order to stay competitive and make the cut. Horn finished the first round with a 1-under 71.

Horn had birdies on the par-5 second hole and the par-3 14th, but also had a bogey on No. 18.

“I didn’t score real great and I hit it solid for the most part but did miss my target a little bit,” Horn said. “I could have been a couple over, but I know it was a good, solid round and I’ll take it.”

Horn had more birdie opportunities, but couldn’t get into a groove around the greens. It’s something he’ll be trying to fix during today’s round.

“That was one place where I struggled. I left it above the hole in a few spots and it would have been better to place it under the hole since the greens are so fast,” Horn said. “If I can keep it under the hole I can play more aggressive and make some more birds.”

The excitement of the fans and the feel of playing in The Players Cup has reignited the spark for playing professional golf and Horn isn’t ruling out a return to the tour.
