A suspicious fire in the early morning hours on Sunday has totally destroyed the RCMP community office in St. Theresa Point.
No one was in the building at the time.
The structure was a side-by-side building consisting of the RCMP community office on one side of the building and a space used as storage by the St. Theresa Point First Nation on the other.
St. Theresa Point is about 600 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg in the Island Lake region.
Despite efforts by RCMP officers and the local fire department the entire building and everything in it were destroyed. Damage estimates were not available.
The fire is being treated as an arson and an investigation is under way with the assistance of the RCMP Thompson Major Crime Unit and the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
