Coaches plan to make the decision after reviewing video of Thursday's practice, Burke said, and checking on how Hall's banged-up hand is doing on Friday morning. "I feel good today," Hall said. "We'll just see if it gets real sore, or swells back up again... I could grip the ball, I had no problems throwing it."

The Bombers fined defensive end Alex Hall after he wrestled with offside penalties and refused to leave the field when asked to by coaches in Saturday’s game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. On Thursday, Burke stressed there were no hard feelings on the coaching staff’s side. Heck, Burke said he’d rather a player be fighting to stay in a game than shrugging on his way out.

“Alex is a good kid and he didn’t mean to be disrespectful, he just didn’t want to come out of the game,” Burke said. “I admire that, but you gotta follow the coach’s orders… he’s a great guy.”

Hall, for his part, was sheepish about the situation on Thursday. The CFL’s sack leader said he plans to be a little bit more patient this Sunday, after letting frustration push him a little too quickly over the line last time. “It’s just being anxious, trying to make the play,” he said. “I was just trying to have a fast get-off. That plays into it.”

Former NFLer Mike Sims-Walker will take another week to acclimatize to the Canadian game, but Burke thinks his other brand-new receiver, former Ticat Aaron Kelly, could be ready to play.

“He picked up the offence really well yesterday, as if he’d been in it all along,” Burke said. Of course, Kelly has played under offensive co-ordinator Marcel Bellefeuille’s system before. If coaches do vote to put him in, Kelly will likely go in instead of wideout Doug Pierce, Burke said.
