үӯ HOT HAND:
Alex Chiasson’s first-period goal was his ninth marker in 10 career games. The Stars’ 2009 second-round draft pick is the first player since Teemu Selanne in 1992-93 to record eight or more goals in his first nine NHL games.
үӯ BACK-TO-BACK BLACK HOLES:
Friday’s loss completed the first of 10 back-to-back situations for the Jets this season. And it’s a stat that is not trending well: the Jets were 2-9-1 in the second game of back-to-backs in 2011-12 and 3-5-0 last year.
үӯ NUMBERS GAME:
Blake Wheeler’s third-period power-play goal was the fifth man-advantage marker in as many games by the Jets this season… Three times the Jets cut short one of their power-plays with a penalty of their own… Toby Enstrom picked up an assist on Wheeler’s goal, extending his point streak to five games. The Thrashers/Jets record for season-opening point streaks is held by Donald Audette, who recorded at least one point (7G, 7A) in seven straight games to open the 2000-01 season.
үӯ UP NEXT:
The Jets will attempt to stop the bleeding from a three-game skid Sunday against New Jersey.
