Winnipeg Blue Bombers linebacker Henoc Muamba has taken down half of the team’s annual player awards that were announced Wednesday morning.

Muamba was named the club’s most outstanding player, most outstanding defensive player and most outstanding Canadian — all by a unanimous vote of local football reporters and head coach Tim Burke.

Playing in all 17 of his team’s regular season games in 2013, Muamba has racked up 97 tackles, 18 special teams tackles, one sack and one interception.

Muamba, a 3rd year Bomber, is a free agent this winter and has thus far resisted all attempts by the Bombers front office to extend his contract.

Tailback Will Ford — who returned two kickoffs this season for touchdowns — was named the team’s top special teams player; offensive tackle Glenn January was named the team’s top lineman for the second year in a row; and linebacker Ian Wild — who record 65 tackles, 13 special teams tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery for a TD in 2013 — was named the team’s top rookie.

The selected players will now compete against their fellow nominees from the three other CFL East Division teams to be named East Division all-stars on Nov. 7.
