Sport Manitoba is fighting a city order to landscape a portion of its Exchange district property that will soon house a state-of-the-art training facility.
The land adjacent to its new headquarters on Pacific Avenue is slated to become an $18-million, 80,000 square foot field house and training centre.
However, the land has been vacant and been used as a make-shift parking lot.

The city ordered Sport Manitoba to barricade the site to ensure no vehicles can park there, and to landscape the land.
Sport Manitoba president Jeff Hnatiuk will be at an appeal hearing Monday morning, arguing it makes no sense to landscape land where construction will begin next summer.
In a letter to the city, Hnatiuk also states that Sport Manitoba has posted no parking signs on the site, which are being ignored by volunteers who regularly meet at the building.
