Penguins coach Dan Bylsma, though he didn’t much care for the style Sunday, matched the most Pittsburgh franchise wins for a coach at 232. That equals Eddie Johnston’s mark.

The win allowed the Pens to match their best-ever streak of 12 straight home wins, set last spring. The Penguins have outscored their opposition 49-27 during this march.

WILD NUMBERS

Sunday’s contest produced some wild swings in the statistics.

Pittsburgh had great performances from James Neal and Evgeni Malkin, with three points each, and Jussi Jokinen had two points and was plus three. Pittsburgh also had a pair of minus-twos, Taylor Pyatt and Sidney Crosby.

The Jets had Zach Bogosian’s plus-two game and three points from Evander Kane, but had a minus-two in Olli Jokinen and a minus-three for Dustin Byfuglien.

OFF MARK

The road trip dropped the Jets to 9-13-1 away from home and 0-4-1 in the second half of back-to-backs this season.

“We know it sucks,” said rookie Mark Scheifele. “We could have easily won this game, the Ottawa game, but we fell short. We’ve said we had to be better over and over, but it’s just a matter of actually wanting it.”
