The Winnipeg Blue Bombers added to their coaching staff today, naming American Gene Dahlquist as the new quarterbacks coach.

Dalquist has a resume that spans 30 years, all of it in the U.S. or with the NFL Europe.

The connection that brings him to the Bombers is with offensive co-ordinator Marcel Bellefeuille, for whom he worked as quarterbacks coach for the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL.

Dalquist’s previous coaching jobs are heavy on the offensive side, including stays as offensive co-ordinator at University of Oregon, Boise State, Iowa State, Illinois and University of Texas.

He has also coached at Idaho State, Utah, University of Nevada-Las Vegas, three seasons as head coach of the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe (2001-03) and a position with Football University, coaching quarterbacks for NFL combine workouts and as an NFL personnel consultant.
