SILVER LINING:
There aren’t too many offensive categories in which the Winnipeg Jets are among the league leaders, but here’s one: Only two teams in the NHL have more 10-goal scorers this season than the Jets.
The Jets have nine 10-goal scorers so far this season — Blake Wheeler, Bryan Little, Andrew Ladd, Dustin Byfuglien, Evander Kane, Olli Jokinen, Mark Scheifele, Michael Frolik and Devin Setoguchi.
Only the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers have more 10-goal scorers this season. The Habs and Rangers each had 10 heading into Friday night.
WELCOME BACK:
New York Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault and Rangers assistant Scott Arniel both made a homecoming of sorts to Winnipeg Friday night.
Vigneault and Arniel, of course, both formerly coached the Manitoba Moose and Friday night’s visit by the Rangers was the first time Vigneault had returned to Winnipeg since he coached the Moose in 2005-06.
“To tell you the truth, I’ve never been to this (visitors) side,” said Vigneault. “It was my first time when I came in. I loved my time in Winnipeg. I always remember it. It’s what permitted me to get back in the big league.”
