Hey there, time traveller!

Diane Neal, an actress best known for playing assistant district attorney Casey Novak over nine seasons of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, will be the star of a low-budget independent thriller to be filmed in and around Winnipeg next month.
Titled Steel & Stilettos, the movie stars Neal as the new female warden of a high-security prison who faces challenges when an inmate puts up a bounty of $5 million to anyone who can break him out of jail.
Co-produced with Winnipeg’s Buffalo Gal Pictures, the film also stars Jodelle Ferland as Neal’s daughter.
Ferland, just 19, is a seasoned veteran on films such as Twilight: Eclipse and The Cabin in the Woods and on Prairie-lensed productions including Terry Gillam’s Tideland, the Jessica Biel thriller The Tall Man and the horror thriller The Messengers opposite Kristen Stewart.
Producer and Buffalo Gal’s VP of production Rhonda Baker says the film will be directed by Mike Elliott, a veteran producer (The Devil’s Rejects) whose resumé includes extensive work with legendary producer Roger Corman.
The film will shoot here May 8 to 29.
