KILLERS:

Apart from one evening in Minnesota, Winnipeg’s penalty killing has been up to standards in the pre-season.

This was a good thing Thursday night because penalties were a bit of a problem.

The Jets kill all six Calgary chances and stand at 27 for 30 in the pre-season.

RESURFACING:

After a summer with few bites, former Jets winger Devin Setoguchi landed a one-way deal with the Flames at $750,000 for one year.

Setoguchi turned out to be a bad second-line move for the Jets (11 goals, 27 points) but Flames GM Brad Treliving said Thursday his prior experience as assistant GM in Phoenix leaves him disposed to second chances.

“You’re always looking at ways to get better,” Treliving said. “I look back to my time in Phoenix and there were a lot of players there that at first blush, people would say it hasn’t worked out, or they were ‘reclamation projects.’

“We’re open to finding value, ways we can get better. To us there’s no stone that goes unturned. You also have to do your homework.”
