ABOUT THE DEVILS
New Jersey has won two of its last three to move to 8-8-2. They begin a four-game road swing through Western Canada beginning in Winnipeg, with stops in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.
New Jersey started the season 3-0-0, but is 5-8-2 since. The Devils are operating at a 18.6 per cent success rate on the power play, 14th best in the NHL, but have the league’s worst penalty-kill unit (70 per cent).
The Devils and Jets met earlier this month in Newark, a 2-1 shootout victory for the home side after Michael Ryder tied the game with just over three minutes remaining.
Both Adam Henrique (lower body) and Jon Merrill (arm) are travelling with the team. Henrique has missed six games, Merrill has been out since Nov. 1. The Devils also moved Manitoba product Bryce Salvador (lower body) to injured reserve retroactive to Nov. 10. Neither Salvador nor Ryan Clowe (hit to head) will make the road trip.
The Devils blew a 2-1 third-period lead in a 3-2 loss to Colorado on Saturday. Cory Schneider, who started his 18th straight game, made 26 saves in the loss.
Jaromir Jagr, who is still getting it done at age 42, leads the Devils in scoring (3G, 9A) while Mike Cammalleri is the club’s top sniper with seven goals.
