Hey there, time traveller!

Winnipeg curler Breanne Meakin has skipped an Ottawa-based team to the gold-medal game of the 27th Winter Universiade in Granada, Spain.
Team Canada will meet Russia in the final, after knocking off Switzerland 8-3 in semifinal play Thursday. Meakin is joined on the Carleton University foursome by Lauren Horton, second Lynn Kreviazuk and lead Jessica Armstrong. The team finished the round robin with a perfect 9-0 record.
The Canadian women play Friday at 2 a.m. CST, against Russia’s Anna Sidorova, who defeated Sara McManus of Sweden, 10-4, in the other semifinal. Sidorova won Universiade gold in 2013 in Trinzoni, Italy and bronze in 2011 in Erzurum, Turkey. At just 24, Sidorova is already a huge name in international curling. She has played in the last two Winter Olympics for Russia and, most recently, finished third at the 2014 Ford world women’s curling championship in Saint John, N.B.
The Canadian men’s team, representing the University of Manitoba, will be cheering from the sidelines after finishing with a 5-4 record to just miss the playoffs. The team includes Matt Dunstone, Daniel Grant, Jim Coleman and Chris Gallant.
