It’s not often that somebody is content missing the podium, but Chris Garrick is confident the notoriety from a fourth-place finish at the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting will boost sales anyway.
Jackson Springs Natural Premium Spring Water placed fourth out of 45 entrants in the competition for the best-tasting bottled water in the world over the weekend in West Virginia.
“We’re extremely happy to be in the top half-dozen in the world. It certainly attracts a lot of attention for us and for Manitoba,” said Chris Garrick, president of Jackson Springs.

“We’re getting enquiries from all over the world. It puts us on the international stage, much like the Jets have done.”
Jackson Springs is based near Middlebro in the southeast corner of Manitoba.
Greece’s Fengari Platinum, Platinum Class Mineral Water, was the winner in the bottled water category.
Three years ago, Jackson Springs placed first.
“It’s pretty stiff competition. There are bragging rights from a marketing perspective (on the line). Everybody wants to come first but fourth out of 45 isn’t too shabby,” he said, noting Jackson Springs was the only Canadian entrant in the competition.
Jackson Springs provides water in three- and five-gallon jugs for pickup or home delivery. The company had $1.2 million in sales in Winnipeg in 2014, up 15 per cent from the year before.
