The Blue Bombers added a couple of new names to their roster on Wednesday, signing international linebacker TraShaun Nixon and Canadian offensive lineman Tommy Griffiths.

Nixon, 22, bounced around the edges of the CFL last season, starting at Toronto Argonauts training camp and finishing on the Calgary Stampeders’ practice roster. He’d also tried out with the NFL’s New Orleans Saints. Before that, the 6-1, 235-lb. Californian had played two years at New Mexico State, where he was second on the team with 93 tackles in 2013, and tops with 13 tackles for a loss and three sacks.

Meanwhile, Griffiths comes fresh from Wildfred Laurier University, where he played in 21 games over five seasons – though he only made the switch from the defensive line to the offensive line last year. The move proved positive, as Griffiths was named an OUA first team all-star in 2014. He popped in at Toronto Argonauts training camp last year.
