Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 16/04/2015 (3909 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
Turns out, fans hoping to catch tonight’s historic NHL playoff game downtown will be confined to bars and pubs, with no public spaces showing the game on big screens.
Despite earlier suggestions the battle between the Winnipeg Jets and Anaheim Ducks might be shown on massive screen at 201 Portage Ave., at the corner of Portage and Main, property management for the building has confirmed fans will have to watch elsewhere.
“After consideration and consultation with the city, the decision was made not to go ahead with it,” said Angela Lockhart, media manager for Harvard Property Management Inc.
The Forks will also not be showing the game, with any Jets-themed plans on hold for the time being.
“We don’t have anything solid planned yet, but we’re open to ideas should they go farther,” marketing manager Chelsea Thomson said.
Meanwhile, True North has indicated the MTS Centre will not be showing the game on its big screen, either.
