Winnipeg Free Press reporter Carol Sanders has been nominated for an award by Beyond Borders ECPAT Canada for a story on child sex trafficking in Canada.
Sanders is one of 33 journalists from 24 media outlets who has been nominated for their coverage of issues related to child sexual abuse and exploitation by the bilingual national advocacy organization which raises awareness of sex crimes against children.
Sanders story was titled Fighting against the exploiters and ran in the Free Press on March 13.
Christine Krahn-Matias, co-chair of the Beyond Borders ECPAT Canada media awards, said in a statement today that “each story provides an opportunity for people across our country to learn how to protect children from sexual exploitation, empower survivors, and persevere in the fight against child sexual exploitation.
The award ceremony will be held at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on Nov. 16.
