One Grey Cup fan has a very valuable piece of paper tucked away somewhere.

Nobody has come forward to collect the $178,748 50-50 prize that was announced during the fourth quarter of the Edmonton Eskimos’ 26-20 victory over the Ottawa Redblacks on Nov. 29 at Investors Group Field.

The winning number is W-551531 but time is ticking. The Blue Bombers’ raffle licence states the winner has 30 days to claim their prize. If it goes unclaimed after that, the money reverts back to the 50-50 program, which supports amateur football and other community programs across the province.

The Bombers have the option to start the pot at a higher amount next year. That happened once during the 2015 season and the pot for the next game versus Ottawa started at $100,000.

Bombers spokeswoman Kim Babij-Gesell said the team is encouraging fans from far and wide to check their parka pockets, pants pockets, wallets or anywhere else they might have stashed their ticket on game day.

“It would be a shame if the winning ticket is hiding in a pocket somewhere and doesn’t get claimed. Or worse yet, if it goes through the laundry,” she said.
