The SilverCity St. Vital Cinemas at St. Vital Shopping Centre were evacuated late Wednesday afternoon by Winnipeg police due to a bomb threat.

A police spokesman said the bomb threat was “unfounded.” Police received a call at 4:35 p.m. and moved quickly to evacuate patrons from the cinemas.

Detailed searches were conducted throughout the premises. Patrons were allowed to return to the cinemas around 5 p.m.

The spokesman said the investigation into the incident is continuing.
