Alcohol is being cited as a factor in a car crash that has killed one man and injured three others near Swan River in western Manitoba.
RCMP in Swan River reported four men, all occupants in the same vehicle, were thrown clear when the vehicle crashed into a hydro pole near Minitonas, a town about 15 kilometres east of Swan River.
Emergency crews were called to the scene just after 5 a.m. Saturday morning, when they found the four men ejected from the vehicle. All four were transported to the nearest hospital.
One man, aged 27 from Swan River, subsequently died, the RCMP reported in a statement Saturday.
The initial investigation has revealed that the vehicle was travelling southbound on a gravel road when it left the roadway, struck a hydro pole and rolled.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision. An RCMP traffic analyst is assisting with the investigation.
