Amherst Park was renamed to Kapyong Park today to honour the soldiers who served during the Korean War, and in particulary the 1951 battle at Kapyong.

The name changes also strengthens the ties to the 2PPCLI regiment, who fought in the Battle of Kapyong and were based in Winnipeg until 2004.
