The print and digital editions of the Winnipeg Free Press continue to achieve the highest market penetration of any newspaper in the country in a market over 500,000 people, according to the second-quarter 2016 survey by Vividata.
According to the survey, the Free Press led the country in just about every readership category — weekday print editions reach 35 per cent of Winnipeg adults, and weekday print and website visits combined reach 46 per cent of Winnipeg adults. The Saturday print edition reaches 43 per cent of the city’s adults and Saturday print and digital combined reach 49 per cent. On a weekly basis, the Free Press print edition is seen by 60 per cent of Winnipeg adults and print and digital combined are seen by 70 per cent.
Vividata is Canada’s authoritative source for print and digital audience measurement. For its quarterly surveys it talks to 40,000 consumers across Canada.
The survey indicates that on a weekly basis 60 per cent of adult Winnipeggers over the age of 18 read the Free Press print edition, 42 per cent read the Winnipeg Sun, 47 per cent read Metro and 12 per cent read the Globe and Mail.
