About the Flames
Simply put, the Flames are one of the hottest teams in the NHL and are riding a five-game winning streak. Calgary won its ninth road game of the season Thursday — most in the league — with a 2-1 overtime triumph over the Arizona Coyotes.
The Flames (15-13-2) are now home for a three games at the Scotiabank Saddledome against Winnipeg, the Tampa Bay Lightning (Wednesday) and Columbus Blue Jackets (Friday). The club is just 6-7-0 on home ice.
RW Johnny Gaudreau has played 10 fewer games than most of his teammates, but still leads the club in scoring. He has seven goals and 10 assists in 20 games, while C Sean Monahan has eight goals and eight assists in 30. D Dougie Hamilton, the subject of trade rumours in recent weeks, scored the OT winner in Phoenix and now has four goals and 10 assists.
G Chad Johnson has a terrific record (12-4-1) and sparkling numbers to go along with it. He has a 1.98 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage. His partner, G Brian Elliott, continues to struggle. He is 3-9-1, with a 3.31 GAA and .885 save percentage.
