About the OILERS
Edmonton returns home after a three-game road trip in which it started 0-2, losing to the Philadelphia Flyers (6-5) and the Buffalo Sabres (4-3 in overtime), before a 3-2 shootout loss Friday to the Minnesota Wild.
The Oilers were one of the hottest teams in the NHL at the start of the year, winning seven of nine games in October. Since then, the Oilers are 7-9-4.
C Connor McDavid, last year’s No. 1 overall pick, was the NHL’s scoring leader heading into Friday, with 38 points (12 goals) in 29 games. The 19-year-old had recorded one goal and seven points in his previous five games. The Wild held him off the scoresheet.

The Oilers have defeated the Winnipeg Jets in both contests so far this season, beginning with a 3-0 victory in the Heritage Classic outdoor game Oct. 23. F Zack Kassian led the way that day with a goal and an assist for Edmonton, which scored all three of its goals in the second period.
W Leon Draisaitl, who plays on a line with McDavid, has 25 points (13 goals) through 30 games, putting him in a tie for 13th place in NHL scoring. He’s been particularly hot as of late, with points in 11 of his last 14 games. His seven power-play goals had him in a tie for second place in the NHL.
Loaded with a number of offensively gifted players, the Oilers have posted strong numbers on the power play this season, ranking seventh in the NHL heading into Friday with a success rate of 21.7 per cent (20-for-92).
