Daphne Penrose is Manitoba’s new Children’s Advocate.
Penrose, who has extensive experience with the child-welfare system begins her new role Thursday morning.
Boasting nearly three decades of public service work, Penrose has spent 10 of those years working top jobs with various child and family services organizations. Her most recent position was as acting chief executive officer of Winnipeg Child and Family Services, in charge of community service delivery.
A graduate of the University of Manitoba, Penrose is a registered social worker with experiences ranging from abuse worker to director of services. She takes over the position from Darlene MacDonald who served the maximum two terms.
Penrose was not available for comment Wednesday.
