A man was injured in a high-rise fire on Stradbrook Avenue late Tuesday night.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service were called to the building near Donald Street just after 9:20 p.m. after an alarm on the sixth floor went off.

The hallway was full of smoke, WFPS said, and officials found the fire in the laundry room. Firefighters were able to put it out and used mechanical ventilation to clear the remainder of the smoke.

It’s unclear when exactly residents were allowed back in the building, but WFPS said only one man was injured in the incident. He was treated at the scene, but the severity of his injuries are unknown.

An investigation into what caused the fire is now underway and there is not estimate as of yet for the cost of damages.
