More than just desserts

On the street where I grew up, the neighbours all socialized and the mothers enjoyed each other’s company while they raised their little baby-boomers.

Fifty years later, my mom still lives in the house and we grown children visit every Sunday.

Just before dinner on the very sad Sunday after my dad passed away, the doorbell rang and there was our neighbour’s husband at the door delivering a pie that she had made for our dessert.

This went on every Sunday for 10 years!

That’s just an example of the selfless generosity they have extended to many people over the years. My family can never express how much we appreciate and love them.

Day. Made.

Recently I was at the Shoppers Drug Mart to buy a Peggo card. I was buying the card when a handsome gentleman said he had one and that he would not be using it anymore, as he had bought a car.

He checked to see how much money he still had on the card and it was in the amount of $13.50 so he gave it to me and said, “Happy Mother’s Day.” I flew out of the drug store jumping with glee. What a great feeling and I want to thank that man again. He was so kind to me.
