An international human rights lawyer and a philanthropist will both be honoured with the Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award next week.
David Matas and Art DeFehr will each receive awards at a gala dinner at Canad Inns Polo Park on June 8.
The awards are presented to those who foster Gandhi’s teachings of non-violence, truth and “tolerance of diversity,” a news release from the Mahatma Gandhi Centre of Canada Inc. states.
Tickets are $100 and are available by calling 204-837-3757.
