Hey there, time traveller!

Police are asking for help to find the driver of a truck-trailer that hit and killed a pedestrian in her 60s last Thursday in St. Boniface and fled the scene.

The woman died at the scene in the 200 block of Marion Street after she was hit by a Dodge 1500 Crew Cab pickup truck towing an enclosed black trailer with stainless steel trim and the manufacturer name Stealth on the upper left side.

The truck and trailer, both of which were stolen from separate locations, were recovered Friday in nearby residential areas; the truck was found in the area just north of Marion and Archibald streets, the trailer in central St. Boniface, Winnipeg police Const. Jay Murray said Tuesday.

Investigators are asking for the public's assistance in locating any video footage that may have captured the truck and trailer on private cameras, such as dashboard cameras. (Police handout)

“It’s very concerning that someone would intentionally or unintentionally hurt someone and then leave the scene of an accident,” Murray said. “Most people would immediately stop and render first aid to the individual who had been hurt by a vehicle and it’s unfortunate that there are people out there that will run.

“Hopefully we can bring this person into custody soon.”

Police say it is believed the truck and trailer may have been in the Sargent Park/Minto area at about 11 a.m., as well as a section of Harkness Avenue and Main Street near Queen Elizabeth Way prior to the hit-and-run at 11:45 a.m.

Police have no suspects in custody.

“Investigators do want to speak with anyone that may have a description of the driver of this vehicle,” Murray said.

The black trailer with patterned stainless steel trim is described as a wedge enclosed unit manufactured by Stealth Trailers and has ‘Stealth’ written on the upper left side. It is a Titan model, with ‘Titan’ written on both sides of the trailer near the bottom. The trailer will have damage to the left front fender. (Police handout)

The truck and trailer are suspected to also have been involved in another crime before the woman was hit.

Police are asking anyone with possible video footage from vehicle dash cameras or other private cameras, any witnesses or anyone else with information who have not yet come forward to contact police st 204-986-6271 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
