Hey there, time traveller!

Medical cannabis is gaining notoriety thanks in part to the political movement to legalize the plant better known as weed. For more than 3,000 years, cannabis has been used for medicinal purposes. Today there are more than over 900 different cannabis strains recognized worldwide and over 300,000 registered patients across Canada using medical cannabis to treat the symptoms of various medical conditions.
Known for its biologically active compounds or cannabinoids, of which there are at least 85 different varieties, the characteristics of each strain, along with its terpene or unique aroma and therapeutic property profile, dictate not only the strength and quality of the cannabis, but also the sensory and experiential perspective.
Although the research is ongoing, it is believed that cannabinoids, the most potent of which is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), can be effective to help provide relief from chronic pain, nausea, reduced appetite, sleep disorders and more by interaction with two main types of receptors in the human body: CB1 found predominantly on cells in the brain and spinal cord, and CB2, which are found in various immune cells.
So how do you know if medical cannabis is right for you?
Thankfully there are skilled professionals to help. At Delta 9 Lifestyle Cannabis Clinic, manager Jehna Grobety says, “The patients we see come in for a wide variety of reasons ranging from anxiety, inflammation in the body and even seizures as well as pain relief.”
“It’s relatively straightforward to obtain a prescription for medical cannabis, and fill it legally from a Licensed Producer. Medical cannabis can be an excellent alternative to opioid prescriptions. Other conditions whose symptoms may be treated with medical cannabis include neurological disorders, glaucoma and other vision related conditions, autoimmune disorders, chronic stress and depression – just to name a few.
When it comes to medical cannabis, the best results occur when the proper strain is accurately matched to the specified symptoms, although individuals can react differently to cannabis. In other words, what works for one person might not work for another.
“We have not seen very many cases where cannabis hasn’t been able to help our patients,” says Grobety. “When someone comes in for their initial consultation, we have them complete a medical history questionnaire in order to understand what they’re looking for relief from with their medical cannabis treatment. This also gives us an idea of which doctor and method of consumption would be the best fit for them.”
At Delta 9, their Clinic Care Specialists will help patients every step of the way; from assessing whether medical cannabis is right for them to helping them choose the proper strain to treat their symptoms. They will provide education about the best methods of consumption and ensure they are registered with upwards of two Licensed Producers that can provide them with the medicine they require on a regular basis.
“It’s easy to get started with Delta 9 Lifestyle Cannabis Clinic,” Grobety says. “We invite you to come to our location at 478 River Avenue to speak with one of our clinic care specialists who will help you to decide if medical cannabis is right for you.”
Appointments may be booked directly through the Delta 9 Lifestyle Cannabis Clinic website at www.delta9life.com or by calling 204-410-3424.
