French actor Gérard Depardieu is reportedly under investigation for rape and sexual assault in Paris.
French newspaper Le Parisien reports a 22-year-old French actress and dancer filed a criminal complaint Monday accusing the star of sexually assaulting her Aug. 7 and Aug. 13 at his home in the French capital.
Depardieu, 69, “absolutely denies” all allegations, his lawyer told the AFP news agency.
The Cyrano de Bergerac star had reportedly taken the woman under his wing, and was offering career advice when the alleged assaults happened.
Depardieu, one of France’s most notable stars, has occasionally crossed over into American films, including The Man in the Iron Mask, Last Holiday and Life of Pi.
He was nominated for Best Actor at the 1990 Oscars for Cyrano de Bergerac.
