Julie Pacin initially started her career in the field of medical rehabilitation. She was a dancer as a child and has always been passionate about fitness. Today is leads a team of equally dedicated coaches at the Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) Taylor location, living each day with purpose.

“I strive to support our members so that they can live their best lives, which is very individual. For some that means just getting through their day – improving their energy; for others physical activity is necessary for optimal mental health; for certain members it’s a boost in confidence knowing they look their best; always being along to support them in their journey as they set goals and celebrate their accomplishments is so rewarding.”

According to science improved physiological benefits are noticed within the first three weeks of a regular fitness regime. To achieve maximum results in the shortest amount of time though, Orangetheory Fitness prescribes adding a High Intensity Interval Training component to your workout schedule.

Enter the After Burn

“At OTF, we encourage our members to spend between 10 and 30 minutes of an hour workout in the anaerobic training zone, so they continue to burn stored calories for up to 36 hours post workout.”

All Orangetheory Fitness workouts are rooted in functional training, which is a method of enabling the body to work better as a whole – a different approach than isolation training. “Let’s face,” Julie says, “we never just use one muscle at a time; teaching the muscles to work together for ultimate wellness is better for all aspects of fitness and life.”

“I feel so privileged to be able to see the changes in our members – it’s really moving. They leave the studio feeling great about the fact that they not only pushed themselves hard and will continue to burn calories all day, but they also feel stronger. We have very fit members, but they didn’t all come in like that.”

The culture at OTF extends from coaches to members celebrating success together. “We’re tight. We do fundraising for local charities together, we have fun classes with live djays, and we even enter races together. Our members really do get to know one another. They form friendships.”

The feeling that someone has your back contributes to the collective sense of achievement. It’s a feeling of belonging and accountability. “We are all in it together. For many people this is our happy place. It’s super positive.”

“Trust me, you’ve got this!” she says. High fives all around!
