In Toronto, the S&P/TSX composite index was up 281.90 points to 14,062.09.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 1,086.25 increase points to 22,878.45.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index was up 116.60 points to 2,467.70.
The Nasdaq composite index was down 65.35 points to 6489.01.
The Canadian dollar was trading at 73.25 cents US, up from Monday’s average value of an even 73 cents US.
