Students from the Salvation Army’s Booth University College wrapped up their annual Toy Mountain drive on Nov. 30 at Polo Park shopping centre. The students raised more than $1,500 to purchase toys at a paint night event it hosted, at a bake sale and through campus donation boxes. The toys were to be distributed to families by the Salvation Army from Dec. 10-14.

Winter wonderland

Variety, the Children’s Charity of Manitoba, hosted its Winter Wonderland holiday celebration on Dec. 10 at the Metropolitan Event Centre. The event hosted more than 300 Winnipeg students between eight and 12 years old from Dufferin, Lavallee, Machray, Niji Mahkwa and Pinkham schools for food, fun, gifts and holiday entertainment. For more than 40 years, Variety has worked to make a difference in the lives of children with special needs and/or socio-economic disadvantages. For more information, visit varietymanitoba.com.
