Spice Girls’ Mel B says she hooked up with bandmate

Ahead of the Spice Girls’ reunion tour this summer, the group’s Scary Spice, Melanie Brown (a.k.a. Mel B), revealed in a bombshell interview with Piers Morgan that she slept with bandmate Geri Horner (née Halliwell, a.k.a. Ginger Spice).

Mel B (made the confession during a taping of Piers Morgan’s new ITV show Life Stories on Friday, with Good Morning Britain airing the clip on Monday, in which Morgan asks Mel B to respond to the longstanding rumour that she and her bandmate hooked up during the group’s heyday back in the 1990s.

“You were coming here to be brutally honest,” Morgan said, asking her point-blank, “Did or didn’t you sleep with Geri Halliwell?”

At first, the America’s Got Talent judge, 43, insisted that she and her bandmate “slept in a bed together, but not like that,” but then nodded when Morgan asked her if things escalated.

“She’s going to hate me for this because she’s all posh in her country house with her husband,” Mel B said of Horner, who married Formula 1 racing team boss Christian Horner in 2015.

The camera then cut to the Life Stories audience, showing the flabbergasted reaction of fellow Spice Girl “Sporty Spice” Mel C.

Singer Scott Walker dies at age 76

LONDON — Influential singer, songwriter and producer Scott Walker, whose hits with the Walker Brothers in the 1960s included The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore, has died. He was 76.

The record company 4AD announced the death Monday, saying Walker died Friday afternoon in London.

The Walker Brothers enjoyed a string of hits that also included Make It Easy on Yourself.

Scott Walker later went on to produce numerous songs, movie scores and a number of solo albums; he was seen as an influential figure in the music world.

The Ohio-born Walker, who began his career as a session bass player, changed his name from Noel Scott Engel when he joined the Walker Brothers, also relocating to London.

The Walker Brothers were hugely popular in Britain at a time when the music scene was dominated by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. They also enjoyed hits in the United States.

He left the band to pursue a solo career when they were near their commercial peak. As a solo artist, Walker released a number of well-received albums, and joined the Walker Brothers for a final album together in the 1980s.

Thom Yorke of Radiohead tweeted his sadness at Walker’s death.

“He was a huge influence on Radiohead and myself, showing me how I could use my voice and words,” Yorke said.

The record company said Walker is survived by partner Beverly, daughter Lee and granddaughter Emmi-Lee.

Dr. Dre’s kid accepted into USC, he brags

Former N.W.A member and producer Dr. Dre committed a strategic social-media error on Sunday, posting a photo and message on Instagram bragging about how his daughter got accepted into USC on her own merit, sans admissions scandal.

“My daughter got accepted into USC all on her own. No jail time!!!!” crowed the proud dad, real name Andre Young, next to a photo of himself with smiling daughter Truly Young displaying what looked to be an acceptance package from the university.

College acceptance, especially to much-targeted USC, has become a touchy subject since a massive college admissions scandal broke earlier this month. Caught up in the mess were actors Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, who are accused of paying bribes to help their kids get into elite schools.

Thing is, in 2013, Dre donated US$70 million to the university with fellow music mogul Jimmy Iovine to found the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation. And critics found that irony unbearable, no matter how Truly Young actually got in.

Folks blasted the post with comments about the mega-donation. On Monday, TMZ dug up a 2018 social media post from Truly where she said, “Dad pushing me to go to USC.” In the accompanying photo, she looks less than thrilled by the conversation.

Dre took down his post by Sunday afternoon, but it was too late: commenters continued to flame Dre on several other of his Instagram posts, including photos of him with his son and daughter.

Death from above to play this summer

In 2002, Canadian rock duo Death from Above (then called Death from Above 1979) released its debut EP, Heads Up, a collection of six fuzzy and fiery dance-punk jams.

This year, the band is celebrating the re-pressing of that album with the Heads Up! Is Now tour, which brings the group to the Garrick on June 3.

This tour will see them play Heads Up in its entirety, as well as tracks from their three full-length albums.

American heavy metal band Disturbed is also hitting the road; it brings the second leg of its Evolution tour through Bell MTS Place July 23.

Disturbed is touring in support of its newest release, also titled Evolution, which hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts, as well as reaching No. 4 on the Billboard 200. In addition, the band has racked up hundreds of millions of streams on Spotify.
