Nine Manitoba golfers have been awarded cash scholarships from the Manitoba Golf Scholarship Fund.

Announced today, the group is headlined by Breezy Bend’s Jesse Skelton, who is the winner of the Dr. Daya Gupta Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement and $1,500.

Skelton, who had the highest standing of all of the 2009 applicants, is pursuing his degree in Actuarial Mathematics at the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba.

The other eight recipients of $1,000 — supported by the scholarship fund and Blue Cross — are Glendale’s Michael Goldberg, Killarney’s Connor Macauley, Niakwa’s Scott Markham, Breezy Bend’s Steve Minion, Selkirk’s Lindsay Stewart, Elmhurst’s Lucas Wazney and Nathan Wazney and Glenboro’s Joshua Wytinck.
