WINNIPEG — The St. Adolphe bridge is closed indefinitely because it is too dangerous for traffic.

The province said today the bridge, over the Red River at Provincial Road 210, is at risk of collapsing because of river bank instability.

The province warns motorists, boaters and the general public to not travel, walk or boat under or near the bridge at any time due to significant safety concerns.

The province closed the bridge yesterday morning after officials discovered one of the concrete piers holding it up had shifted about one metre since the bridge was last inspected at the end of June.

Detour signs are in place on roads in the St. Adolphe area. Information on detours is available at www.manitoba.ca.
