Hey there, time traveller!

A former gang member is suing the Correctional Service of Canada, alleging staff at Stony Mountain prison failed to protect him from a beating by rival gang members just one day after his arrival.
In a lawsuit filed last week, Dallas Friesen, a former member of the Rock Machine, alleges prison staff ignored his safety concerns and placed him in a range where he was immediately targeted by “inmate incompatibles.”
“In failing to recognize the history of the plaintiff as relayed to (staff)… the (defendant) subjected the plaintiff to a life-threatening circumstance,” the lawsuit alleges.
Friesen was transferred to the prison April 26, 2018, to serve an eight year sentence. According to the lawsuit, when Friesen raised concerns about where he would be placed in the prison given his historical affiliations, a security intelligence officer assured him he would be safe, saying: “It’s been a long time, no one will do anything to you now.”
A day later, Friesen was lured to a gym washroom where he was assaulted by four inmates and knocked unconscious. During the attack, one of the inmates allegedly said: “This is what happens to Rock Machine when they come to Stony.”
Later, still disoriented, Friesen was returning to his cell when he passed a corrections officer who said: “You were the one who got it in the gym,” the lawsuit alleges.
