Health officials reported Tuesday only four new cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba, after announcing 67 new infections over the previous three days.
Three of the new cases are in the Prairie Mountain Health region, which encompasses Brandon; the fourth is in Winnipeg.
The number of active cases of the novel coronavirus in Manitoba edged slightly lower to 194, from 196 on Monday. The current five-day test positivity rate was also lower at 1.27 per cent Tuesday, compared with 1.59 per cent Monday.
A total of 1,059 lab tests for COVID-19 were completed Monday. The province completed 2,062 tests Aug. 7, 1,553 on Saturday, and 1,364 on Sunday.
There are five persons in Manitoba hospitals with COVID-19, including three in intensive care.
Meanwhile, health officials had new information about potential exposure to the virus at the Tim Hortons restaurant on the Trans-Canada Highway and 18th Street in Brandon. In addition to potential exposure Aug. 1, there were additional possible exposures Aug. 3-4, the province said in a news release.
Meanwhile, Prairie Mountain Health is opening a temporary COVID-19 test site in Brandon’s Keystone Centre grounds Wednesday.
On Monday, officials reported the coronavirus cluster in Brandon had grown to 64. There was no immediate word Tuesday whether the three most recent infections recorded in Prairie Mountain were part of that cluster.
