Hey there, time traveller!

Red River Co-op is opening its ninth location at Seasons shopping centre in Winnipeg this week.
It’s a brand new full-service grocery store, located at 755 Sterling Lyon Parkway near the outlet mall, that will also feature a scratch bakery and custom cuts of steakhouse quality meats at a butcher counter.
The facility includes a deli as well, which offers several options for grab-and-go meals, such as Co-op’s home-style chicken and fresh sushi. And to support local growers and producers, more than 600 made-in-Manitoba products will be available on shelves.
“We are excited to open a food store in this new market at Seasons and be able to serve the community with premium product and exceptional customer service,” Doug Wiebe, chief executive officer of Red River Co-op, said Thursday.
As a growing retailer, Red River Co-op is run and governed by more than 312,000 of its Manitoba-based members, who also hold shares in the company’s profits.
Unlike Costco, customers need not be members to shop at Co-op locations. But after purchasing a share, valued between $5 and $25, members can begin earning equity and cash back on food, pharmacy and fuel transactions. This allows the company to be locally-run and democratically elect a board of directors that works with management to operate the business.
Apart from the food services offered, a pharmacy is also expected to open soon at the new location — where Co-op members will be able to earn equity on their prescriptions. The store’s health and wellness section will feature a variety of organic and natural supplements, beauty products and special dietary items (such as those for keto) to complement the pharmacy.
The Tuxedo Red River Co-op will be open with enhanced COVID-19 protocols from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Saturday, starting today. On Sunday, the store will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Curbside pickup and online shopping is also available.
