Hey there, time traveller!

Longtime Blue Jays broadcaster Buck Martinez announced that he is taking a break from the booth in order to start treatment following a cancer diagnosis.
“I hope to rejoin my Sportsnet teammates for the stretch run later this season, but in the meantime I will be watching from the sidelines as a I fight the good fight,” the 73-year-old Martinez wrote in a statement shared on social media.
Martinez, who played 17 seasons in the MLB as a catcher, launched his broadcasting career as a colour commentator shortly after retiring as a player in the late ’80s. He briefly managed the Blue Jays in 2001 but returned to the TV booth after being fired in 2002. Since joining Sportsnet in 2010, he’s become a familiar and beloved voice to Toronto baseball fans.
Former Blue Jays Kevin Pillar and Marcus Stroman shared prayers for Martinez and his family.
Here’s a look at what others around the league and beyond are saying:
Martinez’s Sportsnet colleagues Dan Shulman, Jamie Campbell and Joe Siddall also offered support during the Jays broadcast Sunday.
Toronto Mayor John Tory and former Ontario Premier Bob Rae chimed in, too.
