TWO men and a woman have been charged after what RCMP are calling a crime spree June 19 around McCreary and Dauphin.

Ste. Rose du Lac and Dauphin RCMP said officers first responded to a call about a suspect trying to steal gas from a vehicle on a rural property about 14 kilometres east of McCreary before being scared off at about 2:20 a.m.

RCMP said Friday while the vehicle was speeding off, a firearm was shot from inside it.

About an hour and a half later, RCMP received a call three vehicles had been on a rural property near Laurier, with suspects reportedly trying to steal a truck before again being scared off. A handgun was found at the scene.

At 4:05 a.m., a third caller said three vehicles had entered another rural property, with suspects breaking into a pickup truck before fleeing.

Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP officers spotted the three suspect vehicles on Provincial Road 480 and attempted to stop them, but they fled at a high rate of speed, police said.

Minutes later, one of the vehicles, which had been reported stolen from Selkirk, was found abandoned.

In the afternoon, one of the vehicles was spotted in Dauphin and, after being followed by police, got stuck on a flooded roadway. Three suspects were arrested.

Besides the handgun found at one scene, RCMP seized break-in instruments, methamphetamine and cocaine, drug paraphernalia and stolen property.

Two Dauphin men and a Winnipeg woman, have been charged with offences including possession of break-in instruments, two counts of resisting arrest, possessing a weapon while prohibited, and three counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
