Man found injured on bridge dies
A severely injured man who was found on the Osborne Street Bridge sidewalk Aug. 13 has died, triggering a homicide investigation.
Sydney Frederick Chubb, 28, was found on the east sidewalk suffering from severe trauma to his upper body. He was taken to hospital in critical condition and died Sunday.
Major crimes investigators are asking for help from anyone who was walking or driving in the area around 5:30 a.m. They request any surveillance footage from nearby homes or from motorists with dash cameras.

Police seek leads in 2021 graffiti spree
WINNIPEG police hate crimes investigators are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect accused of spray-painting hate symbols, including swastikas, on Pembina Highway businesses last year.
Nine businesses and a church were hit between midnight and 4 a.m. on July 22, 2021.
Police again released images and surveillance footage of the suspect. He appears to be in his 20s or 30s, police said. He was wearing lime green shirts, a dark plaid shirt, a red-and-white cap, with a black gym bag slung across his body.

Man assaulted in West Kildonan
A man is in hospital in guarded condition after being assaulted at a home on Woodcrest Drive Monday.
Winnipeg police responded to the home at 11:30 a.m., where they found the victim in critical condition. Officers arrested a man in his 30s.
Major crimes investigators believe the same accused was involved in a residential break-in on Sunday.
The accused was charged with multiple offences and detained in custody.
NO one hurt in fire at treatment centre
NO one was injured after a fire broke out at the Behavioural Foundation of Manitoba Wednesday.
Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service said when they responded at 8:50 a.m., they found heavy smoke coming from the two-storey combined residential and educational facility at 35 de la Digue Ave., which treats people with addictions.
All the occupants in the building got out safely before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters say it appears to have been an accidental electrical fire and the extent of the damage is not known.
